Jingle Bells 5K

I found more missing posts! These ones are from a fundraiser for Arthritis.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm helping the Jingle Bell Run/Walk® for Arthritis, a 5K fun run/walk to benefit the Arthritis Foundation. As before, all training runs will be logged and dedicated to donors, so I can't wait to see your name up here!
Day 10 Race day! Luckily a donation came in from an “anonymous” donor overnight. Thanks a lot dost, this race is for you!
Day 9 Rest Day
Day 8 Today I left Tashi at home and ran my 5K loop at race pace. It was cold, and I slacked around most of the day and finally got up and went for the run. I felt terrible at the end of the run, but it was a good terrible (if such a thing exists) because I worked hard for it. Turns out I was only 5 seconds behind my Personal Record for a 5K! Unofficial results, of course. I'm looking for a $5 donation to put me at $100 dollars raised. Any takers?
Time - 21 minutes even! Still not sure about that sub-20, but I'm probably looking at a PR.
Soundtrack - Blackrok - Blackrok
Temperature - 40 chilly degrees
BONUS RUN! I took Tashi for a 1.5 miler when I got home.
Day 7 Rest day as we traveled back to Long Island. Our city dog is back in the burbs!
Day 6 This run is for my aunt Sandy, who donated on behalf of my cousin's wife Marie. We'll get you to NYC soon auntie, I promise. Is it trite to say, "I love New York?" I don't care, because it's true. Today was a beautiful day in the city and I fulfilled a dream to go for a run in Central Park. I can't tell you how many times I've seen runners in the Park on tv, movies or on trips into the city and have thought to myself, I'd love to live here and have the park for running. Today's run was a 5 miler that brought me uphill to the park, past the softball fields, the lake across the Bow Bridge, down the Mall to the Columbus statue, past the Alice and Wonderland statue (inspired by a recent viewing of the Slick Rick Video for Children's Story), past Cleopatra's Needle (Egyptian Obelisk) and back to the apartment. It was great run.
Time - 38:48, 7:41 miles, I don't think I'm ready to tackle the Sub 20 on Sunday... :( Soundtrack - Macklemore and Ryan Lewis - Relax Temperature - a gorgeous 60 degrees! I was boiling in my running pants and hoodie.
Day 5 Not much running today, because we spent the entire day in offices doing paper work. Boo. Took Tashi to the dog park and ran there and back for a total of 1 whopping mile!
Day 4 Rest Day
Day 3 Today I couldn't find the motivation to get out and run, even though I had a 6 Miler all planned out. Instead, I saw no donors and lounged around the house until Tashi finally motivated me to get out and run. I think he's becoming addicted to running! I took him for the same 5K that we ran yesterday. Today he saw the dead squirrel that he missed yesterday. Gross. On our run, we passed 6 or 7 different churches. It seems that Hempstead/Garden City is the land of churches.
Time - 23:15.
Soundtrack - The rest of Captain Murphy - Duality and the start of Das Racist - Relax.
Temperature - about 40 degrees.
Day 2 No donor today, but I went for a run any way. Today's run was a 3.1 miler that ran past the Cathedral of the Incarnation, a huge, Episcopal, gothic cathedral. It's big and beautiful. The house next to it looks like the Haunted Mansion from Disney World. It was a pretty run. Today's route kind of looks like one of the heads from Easter Island, so I'm calling it the Easter Island 5K. I took Tashi for the run again and he kept up the whole time! He's doing really well with the running and it's also keeping him calm and busy since he's missing his doggie friends from Delhi.
Time - 22:48. Not a bad pace, but I think the dog's slowing me down.
Soundtrack - Captain Murphy - Duality
Temperature - 38 degrees?
Donor 1-Day 1 Big thanks to Kendra for kicking it off and kicking my butt into gear! Because Kendra is a big dog lover, I decided to make this a dog run. I tried to make a route that a) looked a little like a dog and b) was short enough for Tashi to come with. I decided on a 2 mile route that looked a little like a sitting dog. There were lots of turns, so I figured I'd miss something and sure enough we cut off the poor dog's tail (the route map's tail, not Tashi's). Tashi did a good job of keeping up, but I think I outpaced him. The neighborhood is beautiful and there's a lot to see. Most of the homes are covered in slate shingles and have a very cozy look. Outside though, it's cold and I overdressed for the run, in fact, I'm still cooling down.
Time - 14:30. Good pace, but a way to go to try to get a sub 20:00 5K!
Soundtrack - Chris Read-Boutique Beats: A Tribute to MCA
Temperature - 40 degrees Fahreinheit. By far, the coldest run I've ever done.
